The terms that apply when you use this website or engage our services.
Last updated: July 2026
By accessing peopledepartment.com.au or engaging People Department Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") for services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the website or engage our services. These terms apply to visitors, free advice session bookings, ongoing HR Partner subscribers, project-based clients, and workshop attendees.
People Department Pty Ltd (ABN 49 690 756 748) provides outsourced HR and employment relations advisory services to Australian businesses, franchisors, and multi-site operators, based in Queensland, Australia.
Content published on this website — articles, checklists, FAQs, workshop materials, and general commentary — is provided for general information purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied on as a substitute for advice tailored to your specific circumstances. Once you're engaged as a paying client, advice given directly to you within that engagement is specific to your situation, but remains HR/ER advisory in nature — not legal advice from a solicitor. We recommend independent legal advice for matters involving litigation, formal legal proceedings, or significant legal risk.
4.1 General. All HR Partner plans provide advisory support only. They do not include representation before the Fair Work Commission, any court or tribunal, or any other formal dispute resolution body. They do not cover matters that were already in dispute, litigation, or formal investigation before your plan start date, unless we've separately agreed to take these on (which may be quoted as project-based work).
4.2 Basic — A$499/month (GST inclusive). Employment relations advice only (contracts, awards, terminations, disputes, compliance) — it does not extend to broader HR areas like recruitment, culture, performance management systems, or learning & development. Support is provided by phone and email; there is no advisor permanently assigned to your account. "Basic documentation included" means access to our standard, non-customised contract and policy templates. Custom drafting is not included and would be quoted separately as project-based work.
4.3 Embedded HR — A$999/month (GST inclusive). One advisor assigned to your business as a consistent point of contact. Advice covers all HR topics, not just employment relations. Advice calls and email support are unlimited. Documents and policies are custom-tailored to your business and kept current as relevant law or award changes affect you.
4.4 HRPartner+ — from A$2,499/month (GST inclusive). Everything in Embedded HR, plus your assigned advisor attending your premises in person one day per month. Additional in-office days, and any associated travel arrangements, are agreed directly with your advisor case-by-case and billed separately as agreed at the time.
4.5 Minimum term, changes & downgrades. HR Partner plans have a minimum initial term of 3 months from sign-up. You may cancel at any time after the minimum term by notifying us, effective from the end of your current billing period. Plans cannot be cancelled before the end of the minimum term except as required by law. You may upgrade to a higher plan at any time, effective immediately, with billing adjusted from your next invoice. Downgrades between plans are not available — to move to a lower level of support you'll need to cancel and sign up again afterward, subject to a new minimum term.
4.6 Billing & renewal. HR Partner plans are subscriptions that renew automatically each month via the payment method on file, processed through Stripe, until cancelled in line with clause 4.5. All prices are inclusive of GST.
4.7 Project-Based Services. Custom, fixed-scope engagements outside the HR Partner plans. Scope, deliverables, timeframe and price are confirmed in writing (email is sufficient) before work begins, and that confirmation forms part of your agreement with us alongside these Terms.
4.8 The HR & Employment Law Workshop. A paid, two-day training program with limited seats (currently capped at 18). Registration is confirmed on payment. Materials provided are for the registrant's own business use only and may not be reproduced or distributed.
Our services are intended for businesses and their authorised representatives. By engaging us, you confirm you're authorised to act on behalf of the business signing up.
All HR Partner and workshop pricing is inclusive of GST. We may change plan pricing with one month's notice; continued use after a price change takes effect means you accept the new price. Project-based work is quoted and invoiced separately on terms agreed before work starts. Failed or lapsed payments may result in suspension of services until payment is resolved.
HR Partner plans require a minimum 3-month commitment from sign-up and cannot be cancelled early except as required by the Australian Consumer Law. After the minimum term, you may cancel at any time by notifying us; access continues until the end of the current paid billing period, and fees already paid are non-refundable. Project-based fees, once work has commenced, are non-refundable for work already completed. Workshop registrations may be cancelled for a full refund up to 2 weeks before the workshop date. Cancellations within 2 weeks of the workshop are not eligible for a refund.
Free 20-minute advice sessions are exploratory and general in nature and don't create a formal advisory engagement until you've signed up to a paid plan or agreed project scope.
You agree to provide accurate, complete, and timely information relevant to any advice or documents we prepare. We're not responsible for outcomes resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, or withheld information. Decisions on whether to act on advice remain yours.
All website content, templates, documents, and the People Department name and logo are owned by or licensed to People Department Pty Ltd. Paying clients receive a licence to use documents and templates provided to them for their own internal business purposes only — not for resale, redistribution, or use by other businesses.
We treat information you share with us as confidential and will only use it to provide our services to you. We expect the same regarding any proprietary methods, templates, or materials we share with you.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss. Nothing in these terms excludes any guarantee or right that can't lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You agree to indemnify People Department Pty Ltd against claims arising from your own breach of employment law, unlawful conduct, or misuse of advice or documents we've provided, except to the extent caused by our negligence.
We may suspend or terminate services if fees are unpaid, if you breach these terms, or if we reasonably believe the engagement is being used for unlawful purposes.
We use third-party providers (including Stripe for payments, Calendly for bookings, and email/form processing tools) to deliver our services and run this website. Your use of those tools is also subject to their own terms — see our Privacy Policy for more detail.
You agree not to misuse this website, including attempting to scrape, hack, or interfere with its operation. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience; we're not responsible for their content.
We're not liable for delays or failures in performance caused by events outside our reasonable control.
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and any disputes will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the website or our services after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
